- What does an oil filter do?
- It removes contaminants from the oil circulating through the engine. The oil is filtered and returned to the engine, where it lubricates the moving parts and reduces wear.
- What types of oil filters are there?
- Primary (full-flow) filters, through which all the oil passes before the engine, and secondary (bypass) filters for additional cleaning. There are cartridge and spin-on versions.
- Does it matter which oil filter I use?
- Yes. An unsuitable or low quality filter can reduce the efficiency of the engine and in the worst case cause serious damage.
